Robinhood's Data Lake Ingestion team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale the next generation of hybrid data ingestion systems. You will own the architecture and implementation of CDC (change data capture) pipelines, snapshot systems, and streaming flows that move operational data from Robinhood's platforms into the data lake, enabling analytics, regulatory workflows, and secure access patterns across the company.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and scale CDC, snapshot, and streaming ingestion systems using Apache Flink, Kafka, and S3
- Improve pipeline reliability, scale, data quality, and monitoring to reduce replication lag
- Develop self-service onboarding flows and tooling for partner teams to register databases and schemas securely
- Collaborate with platform teams (Storage, Streaming, Governance) and data consumers to select appropriate ingestion patterns
- Implement access controls, PII-handling workflows, and retention pipelines to protect sensitive data
- Guide technical designs and mentor other engineers to raise engineering standards
You bring at least 5 years of backend platform or distributed data systems experience. You have strong proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python, deep expertise with relational databases (Postgres) and CDC mechanisms, and proven experience building large-scale streaming systems with Kafka, Flink, or Spark. Familiarity with AWS S3, Kubernetes, and schema governance is expected.
