Robinhood's Data Lake Ingestion team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale the next generation of hybrid data ingestion systems. You'll work on the foundations that move data from Robinhood's operational platforms into the data lake, enabling analytics, regulatory workflows, and secure access patterns across the company.
In this role, you will design and implement CDC (Change Data Capture), snapshot, and streaming ingestion systems that transfer operational data at scale. You'll scale the flagship Rocket CDC platform and migrate legacy snapshot pipelines to newer, backup-based architectures. Your work will involve developing high-throughput streaming applications using Apache Flink and Kafka to land curated datasets in S3, while ensuring data quality and schema validation.
Key responsibilities include improving pipeline reliability, scale, and monitoring to maintain ingestion health and reduce replication lag. You'll develop self-service onboarding flows and tooling to help partner teams register databases and schemas quickly and securely. You'll collaborate with platform teams (Storage, Streaming Platform, Governance) and data consumers to select appropriate ingestion patterns for their latency and compliance needs. Additionally, you'll implement access controls, PII-handling workflows, and retention pipelines to protect sensitive data across its lifecycle.
You'll guide technical designs and mentor other engineers on the team to raise engineering standards. This is a high-impact role at the center of Robinhood's data platform, directly enabling critical business functions.
The role is based in Bellevue, WA with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
