Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing cybersecurity company building NodeZero, an autonomous pentest platform used by IT Ops/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and MSSPs to proactively find, fix, and verify exploitable attack vectors at scale across internal, external, cloud, and hybrid environments. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Ingestion team, you will design, build, and operate the ETL pipelines that transform raw pentest output into structured, queryable data across the NodeZero platform. Your pipelines are the critical first link between the execution engine and the insights customers see. You'll work on high-throughput systems that normalize heterogeneous scan data, push structured findings to graph and relational stores, and feed downstream systems including Asset Inventory, reporting, and analytics. You will report to the Data Ingestion Engineering Manager and collaborate with a small backend engineering team including a P5 technical anchor. Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines that process pentest results at scale (scan output, discovered assets, vulnerability findings, network topology); owning end-to-end delivery of pipeline features from schema design through monitoring; building and maintaining ETL components in Go and/or Python that normalize heterogeneous inputs; partnering with Asset Inventory and Data Platform teams to define data contracts; diagnosing and resolving production issues in latency, correctness, and throughput; and providing engineering guidance to junior engineers through code and design reviews. The company is fully remote with up to 5% travel required. Horizon3 was founded by a fusion of former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners, committed to solving ineffective security tools, alert fatigue, blind spots, and the cybersecurity skills shortage. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production backend systems - Strong Go and/or Python proficiency (team's primary languages) - Demonstrated experience building and operating data pipelines or ETL systems in production (streaming or batch) - Working knowledge of message queues or event streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent) - Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent): schema design, query optimization, migrations - Experience running services on Kubernetes and containerized environments (Docker) - Comfort deploying and debugging distributed systems in AWS or equivalent cloud - Operational mindset: instrumenting code, writing runbooks, owning services through full lifecycle - Ability to work across team boundaries and define data contracts with downstream consumers - Clear written communication for design docs, PR descriptions, and async updates NICE TO HAVES: - Experience in cybersecurity, security tooling, or working with vulnerability/threat data - Familiarity with graph databases (Neo4j, DGraph) or graph data models - Experience with Apache Kafka at production scale - Background in offensive security tools or pentest workflows
