Elliptic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Product-Engineering organization, focusing on data engineering solutions that power blockchain analytics and intelligence products. This is a hands-on role where you will spend the majority of your time designing, building, and shipping the data platform yourself while driving technical direction to meet growing demands in blockchain analysis. You will architect and implement large-scale distributed data systems and pipelines that process both batch and streaming datasets at scale. The role involves building blockchain-agnostic solutions that serve as the backbone for all Elliptic products, enabling customers to gain deep insights into crypto flows and fight financial crime. Key responsibilities include: writing and maintaining production code as a hands-on engineer; architecting distributed data systems; contributing to technical decision-making across batch and streaming solutions; collaborating with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and intelligence analysts; exploring and integrating new technologies like data orchestration and cloud-native tools; performing peer reviews; contributing to platform-wide reliability and observability initiatives; and helping shape the technical roadmap for data engineering. You will also mentor and upskill engineers, champion best practices, and help the team excel in engineering excellence. The tech stack includes Scala, Spark, Databricks, AWS, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform. Required experience: hands-on production work with Scala and functional programming; ability to design and maintain distributed data systems in cloud environments; big data frameworks like Spark or Databricks; cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS, GCP, or Azure); and experience with data modeling and workflow orchestration. Bonus skills include stream processing, Infrastructure as Code, containerization, AI-driven tooling, and crypto/blockchain interest. The company offers hybrid working (up to 90 days remote annually), $650 remote work budget, $1,000 annual L&D budget, 25 days annual leave plus US holidays, birthday leave, 16 weeks paid parental leave, comprehensive healthcare, 401k match, and mental health support.
