Speechify is the leading text-to-speech platform that makes the world's information accessible through audio. The company converts articles, documents, and books into high-quality audio, serving millions of users including those with learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, and low vision.
You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms. This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, requiring strategic thinking and a passion for designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams
- Delivering solutions via the cross-platform SDK
- Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Building cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking with end-to-end design perspective and belief in simplicity; work quickly to generate ideas and decide what ships now versus later; balance engagement with focused, heads-down work in a remote environment; and collaborate effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers.
The preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
