Speechify is a rapidly growing text-to-speech platform that converts articles, documents, and books into audio, enabling users to consume information while commuting, working, or learning. The company is #1 in its category and experiencing exponential growth.
You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services, SDKs, and backend infrastructure that power Speechify's product across all platforms (web, mobile, desktop). This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product teams to scope features, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different platforms
- Optimize existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing) through better abstractions and algorithms
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
- Think end-to-end about system design, prioritizing simplicity and reliability
- Work with designers, marketers, and product managers to deliver solutions via the cross-platform SDK
Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking, speed in execution, focus in a high-growth remote environment, and strong collaboration skills. The preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable), with GCP experience as a plus.
