You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services, SDKs, and backend infrastructure that power Speechify's product across all platforms (web, mobile, desktop). This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure—you'll work closely with product teams to scope features, design clear and reliable APIs, and optimize systems for speed and simplicity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with product teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different platforms
- Optimizing existing functionality through better abstractions and algorithms (e.g., faster loading, more intelligent parsing)
- Building cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform
- Thinking end-to-end about system design and prioritizing simplicity
You should have strong systems thinking, work quickly to generate and evaluate options, know how to balance shipping fast with building right, and collaborate effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers. Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is preferred (Java experience acceptable), and GCP experience is a plus.
