Speechify is the leading text-to-speech platform that converts articles, documents, and books into audio, enabling users to consume information at their own pace. The company is experiencing exponential growth and is #1 in its category. You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across platforms. This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, requiring strategic thinking and a passion for designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that enhance user experience. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams - Delivering solutions via the cross-platform SDK - Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements - Shipping cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking with end-to-end design perspective and appreciation for simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing what can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth, busy remote environment, balancing engagement with focused heads-down work. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers. Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus. The company offers a fast-growing environment where you can shape the product, an entrepreneurial team that supports risk and hustle, hands-off management, competitive salaries, and the opportunity to impact millions of users with accessibility-focused technology that supports people with learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, low vision, and autism.
