Salary: USD 30,000 - 100,000 / annual
Speechify is a fast-growing AI-powered audio platform that converts written content—articles, documents, books—into high-quality audio, making information accessible and learnable at scale. The company is #1 in its category and experiencing exponential growth.
You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services, SDKs, and backend infrastructure that power Speechify's product across all platforms (web, mobile, desktop). This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, where you'll directly influence how millions of users interact with the platform.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Teams to scope features, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product surfaces
- Design and ship cross-platform SDKs that enable seamless product experiences
- Optimize existing functionality—faster loading, more intelligent parsing—by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms
- Build cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
- Think end-to-end about system design, prioritizing simplicity and reliability
You should have:
- Systems thinking: you understand that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and value simplicity
- Speed: you generate ideas quickly, ship fast, and know how to prioritize what ships now vs. what needs time
- Focus: you thrive in a high-growth, remote, async-first environment and know when to engage vs. go heads-down
- Collaboration: you work well with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs
- Technical depth in Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role is Kotlin-focused)
- GCP experience is a plus
