Salary: USD 30,000 - 55,000 / annual

The Core Experiences Team builds and maintains foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams
- Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Building cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
You should bring systems thinking with an appreciation for simplicity and end-to-end design. Speed is critical—you generate ideas quickly and know what can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth, remote-first environment where you can balance focused heads-down work with strategic collaboration. You inspire and negotiate effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus. You understand how to optimize systems, ship quickly, and maintain focus in a busy startup environment.
