The Core Experiences Team builds and maintains foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with product teams to scope projects, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via cross-platform SDK
- Optimizing existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing) through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Shipping cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
You should bring systems thinking (understanding end-to-end design and valuing simplicity), speed (quickly generating ideas and shipping), focus (managing priorities in a high-growth remote environment), and strong collaboration skills with designers, marketers, and product managers.
Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
