The Core Experiences Team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across all platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams
- Delivering solutions via the cross-platform SDK
- Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Building cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
You should bring systems thinking—understanding that optimizing requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. Speed is essential: you generate ideas quickly, decide what ships now versus later, and know how to balance engagement with focused, heads-down work. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs, inspiring and negotiating across functions.
Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
