Speechify is the leading text-to-speech platform that converts articles, documents, and books into audio, enabling people to consume information while multitasking. The company is experiencing exponential growth and is #1 in its category.
We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms. This is a strategic role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, requiring someone who thinks systematically about end-to-end design and values simplicity and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, identify scope reduction opportunities for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams
- Deliver solutions via the cross-platform SDK
- Optimize existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing) through better abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Systems thinker who understands that optimizing systems requires end-to-end design
- Works quickly to generate ideas and prioritize what ships now versus what needs time
- Knows how to balance engagement with focused, heads-down work in a remote, high-growth environment
- Collaborates effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers
- Preferred: Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java background acceptable); GCP experience is a plus
What We Offer:
- Fast-growing environment where you can shape the company and product
- Entrepreneurial team that supports risk-taking and hustle
- Hands-off management approach
- Opportunity to impact a transformative industry at the intersection of AI and audio
- Competitive salary and laid-back, asynchronous culture
- Work on a product used by millions that directly supports people with learning differences (dyslexia, ADD, low vision, autism, etc.)
