We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, collaborating closely with product teams to scope projects, navigate integration and UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK. You'll optimize existing functionality to improve performance—shipping faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through better abstractions and algorithm improvements. You'll also ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
The ideal candidate demonstrates systems thinking, understanding that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing which things can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth, busy, remote environment where you can be heads-down when needed and collaborative when required. You inspire and negotiate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers.
Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role is Kotlin-focused) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
