We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience. You'll collaborate closely with product teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams. You'll deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK, optimize existing functionality to ship features like faster loading and intelligent parsing, and build cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
You should have strong systems thinking—understanding that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing which things can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth startup environment with a busy, remote team, knowing when to engage and when to focus heads-down. You're collaborative, able to inspire and negotiate with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers.
The ideal candidate has experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable but the role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform). Prior GCP experience is a plus.
