You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services, SDKs, and backend infrastructure that power Speechify's product across all platforms. This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, requiring someone who thinks strategically about system design and is passionate about building clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with product teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different platforms
- Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Building cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
- Working end-to-end on system design, believing that simplicity and clarity are valuable
Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking, work with speed to generate ideas and prioritize what ships now versus later, maintain focus in a high-growth remote environment, and collaborate effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers. The preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role is Kotlin-focused) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
