We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms. This is a strategic role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, ideal for someone who enjoys designing clear, reliable APIs and building simple systems that directly enhance user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, identify scope reduction opportunities for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams
- Deliver solutions via cross-platform SDK
- Optimize existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing) through efficient abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Systems thinker who understands end-to-end design and values simplicity
- Works quickly to generate ideas and options, with strong judgment about what ships now vs. what needs time
- Thrives in a high-growth startup environment with a distributed team; knows when to engage and when to focus heads-down
- Excellent collaborator who can inspire, negotiate, and work effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers
- Strong experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform)
- GCP experience is a plus
