Speechify is the leading text-to-speech platform that makes the world's information accessible through audio. The company is #1 in its category and experiencing exponential growth. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across all platforms.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, collaborating closely with product teams to scope projects, navigate integration and UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK. You'll optimize existing functionality to ship faster loading times and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms. You'll also ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
The ideal candidate demonstrates systems thinking—understanding that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing which things can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth startup environment with a distributed team, balancing focused heads-down work with strategic engagement. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers.
Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
