Speechify is a rapidly growing audio information platform that converts articles, documents, and books into listenable content. The company is #1 in its category and experiencing exponential growth. You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across platforms.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, collaborating closely with product teams to scope projects, identify scope reductions for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different product teams. You'll deliver solutions via Speechify's cross-platform SDK, optimize existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing), and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
You should have strong systems thinking—understanding that optimizing systems requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. Speed is essential: you generate ideas and options quickly, knowing what can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth, remote, asynchronous environment where you can balance engagement with focused, heads-down work. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers, inspiring and negotiating thoughtfully.
The preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable but the role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus. You'll help shape a company and product in a transformative industry at the intersection of AI and audio, building tools that directly impact people with learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, low vision, and autism.
