Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Speechify is a fast-growing, category-leading platform that converts written content (articles, documents, books) into high-quality audio, enabling people to consume information while multitasking. The company is at the intersection of AI and audio, serving millions of users including those with learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, and low vision.
You'll join the Core Experiences team, which owns the foundational services, SDKs, and infrastructure that power Speechify's product across iOS, Android, web, and other platforms. This is a critical technical role bridging product and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product teams to scope features, manage integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via cross-platform SDKs
- Optimize existing functionality—faster loading, smarter parsing, better algorithms, cleaner abstractions
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and batch jobs using Kotlin
- Think end-to-end about system design; prioritize simplicity and reliability
- Work quickly to generate options, decide what ships now vs. later, and balance focus with collaboration
Ideal candidate profile:
- Strong systems thinking and appreciation for simplicity
- Comfortable moving fast, scoping ruthlessly, and shipping incrementally
- Experienced with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java background acceptable but role is Kotlin-focused)
- GCP experience is a plus
- Collaborative mindset; able to work effectively with designers, PMs, and marketers
- Thrives in a high-growth, asynchronous, remote-first environment
