We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify's product across platforms. This is a critical role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of product and infrastructure, thinks strategically, and is passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via cross-platform SDK
- Optimizing existing functionality to ship faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms
- Shipping cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin
Ideal candidates demonstrate systems thinking, understanding that optimizing systems requires end-to-end design with a focus on simplicity. You work quickly to generate ideas and options, knowing which things can ship now versus what needs time. You thrive in a high-growth startup environment with a remote team, balancing engagement with focused heads-down work. You collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs.
Preferred tech stack includes Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience acceptable but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform) and prior GCP experience is a plus.
