Speechify is a fast-growing text-to-speech platform that converts articles, documents, and books into audio, enabling users to consume information while commuting, working, or learning. The company is #1 in its category and experiencing exponential growth.
You'll join the Core Experiences Team, which builds and maintains the foundational services, SDKs, and APIs that power Speechify's product across all platforms (web, mobile, desktop). This is a critical role at the intersection of product and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across different platforms
- Optimize existing functionality to improve performance (faster loading, intelligent parsing) through better abstractions and algorithm improvements
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform
- Think end-to-end about system design, prioritizing simplicity and reliability
You should have:
- Systems thinking: understanding that optimization requires end-to-end design
- Speed: ability to generate ideas quickly and make pragmatic decisions about what ships now vs. later
- Focus: comfort working asynchronously in a remote, high-growth environment
- Collaboration skills: ability to work effectively with designers, marketers, and product managers
- Strong Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience acceptable but role is Kotlin-focused)
- GCP experience is a plus
