Starburst is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain connectors across Trino (open-source), Starburst Enterprise, and Starburst Galaxy platforms. The role focuses on building and optimizing connectors that enable secure, governed access to enterprise data across 50+ data sources. You will work on complex query optimization challenges, ensuring correctness while improving performance across distributed data environments.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing connectors for various data sources, collaborating with a globally distributed engineering team, and providing exceptional support to both internal and external customers. The role emphasizes focused work with minimal meetings, allowing significant time for coding and code reviews. You will operate in a fast-paced environment where clear written communication across Slack, GitHub PRs, and design documents is essential.
Required qualifications include extensive Java development experience, demonstrated expertise with distributed systems, and a strong commitment to software engineering best practices.
