Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, and sensor fusion. The Sentry Tower Software team develops robotic perimeter security systems powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into a real-time 3D command and control center. You will own the compute platform integration layer for Sentry Tower hardware—the critical bridge between the vendor board support package and the product. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering (NixOS, vendor BSP) and product delivery, requiring you to be the technical authority on why hardware comes up or fails, and whether fixes belong in the platform or product layer. Core responsibilities include owning the end-to-end boot chain (firmware, UEFI, unified kernel image, initrd, encrypted root, NixOS handoff) across all compute generations. You will read hardware pinouts and pinmux definitions from electrical engineers, produce and maintain device tree changes (DTS, DTSI, overlays), and validate them on real boards. When vendor trees don't provide needed behavior, you'll produce kernel, bootloader, and BSP patches and carry them forward through platform upgrades. You'll serve as the primary technical liaison to the platform organization—filing and driving issues with clear reproductions, reviewing upstream changes for hardware impact, and landing product-side integration for new releases. You'll sustain deployed generations through vendor lifecycle transitions, applying security patches and backports to keep fielded systems stable. You'll also support new hardware bring-up alongside electrical engineers, owning the boot and device tree path to production-ready state. This role demands deep expertise in embedded Linux boot chains, device tree fluency, ability to read and patch kernel/BSP source in C, and practical knowledge of peripherals and buses (CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, Ethernet). You'll debug hard problems—intermittent bus errors, thermal faults, boot hangs, field-only failures—and own the full lifecycle of compute hardware from prototype to sustained operations.
