Snowflake's Cloud Security team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build software-defined security controls that operate at scale across 600+ million assets spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP. In this role, you will design and ship systems that improve Snowflake's security posture, moving beyond one-off fixes to platform-level solutions. Key responsibilities include: automating security controls across cloud environments (IAM, detection, monitoring, configuration management, data protection); building real-time security monitoring, logging, and alerting pipelines using Snowflake's own technologies; defining and maintaining security baselines and policies for public cloud platforms; designing AI-augmented pipelines that ingest posture data, score risk, and surface high-impact issues; and owning security workstreams end-to-end while mentoring the team through design reviews and technical guidance. You will bring software engineering best practices to security work—documentation, testing, observability—ensuring controls are testable, monitorable, and reasoned about. The role emphasizes making security the default rather than a restriction, with a focus on developer experience. Required qualifications: 5+ years of software engineering experience; expertise designing and owning secure, large-scale systems with knowledge of secure architecture and threat modeling; proficiency in Java, C++, Go, or Python; familiarity with distributed architectures and scalable APIs (gRPC, REST); strong collaboration and communication skills. Bonus qualifications include: experience applying AI/ML to security problems (detection, risk scoring, prioritization); SQL proficiency for data-driven security operations; strong grasp of algorithms and data structures; hands-on Kubernetes and IaC experience (Terraform, Pulumi); experience designing scalable, concurrent, resilient services for multi-cloud environments. Snowflake is a fast-growing company seeking AI-native thinkers who treat AI as a high-trust collaborator, thrive in dynamic environments, and move with an experimental mindset. The Cloud Security team focuses on unifying the developer security experience, increasing autonomy, detecting vulnerabilities early, and delivering secure-by-default solutions at scale.
