ClickHouse, a Forbes Cloud 100 company and leader in real-time analytics and data warehousing, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team. The team builds and manages the foundational blocks of ClickHouse Cloud's data plane end-to-end, including compute, networking, security, and multi-cloud, multi-region architecture.
In this role, you will architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure. You'll design cutting-edge cloud-native platforms on top of public cloud providers and automate cloud resource management. You'll work closely with the ClickHouse core database development team and security team to produce the SaaS offering, focusing on routing and traffic components to improve reliability and scalability. You'll systematically improve availability by applying distributed systems best practices, design security components and tooling (firewall, PKI, zero trust networks), and optimize performance and cost efficiency.
You bring 5+ years of software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You have strong proficiency in Go, C/C++, Java, or similar OOP languages, and hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. You have developed cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes, and ideally have experience with cloud-native edge or service mesh services (Envoy, Istio). You understand network topologies, protocols, and security principles (VPNs, firewalls, load balancers), and are familiar with cloud security best practices including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards (SOC2, GDPR). You excel at leading and shipping large-scope technical projects in collaboration with experienced engineers, communicate effectively in global teams, and thrive in fast-paced environments.
