ClickHouse, a Forbes Cloud 100 company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team. The team builds and manages the foundational blocks of ClickHouse Cloud's data plane end-to-end, including compute, networking, security, and multi-cloud, multi-region architecture. In this role, you will architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure. You'll design cloud-native platforms on top of public cloud providers and automate cloud resource management. Key responsibilities include working closely with the core database development and security teams to deliver the SaaS offering, improving routing and traffic components for reliability and scalability, and systematically improving availability through distributed systems best practices. You will also design and build security components and tooling including firewalls, PKI and certificate infrastructure, and zero-trust networks. The role involves improving performance and cost efficiency of the infrastructure while partnering with multiple experienced engineers on large-scope technical projects. Required qualifications include 5+ years of software development experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You should have proficiency in Go, C/C++, Java, or similar OOP languages, and hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP including infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Kubernetes experience is essential, with preference for cloud-native edge or service mesh services using Envoy and Istio. You should have strong understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security principles (VPNs, firewalls, load balancers), knowledge of cloud security best practices including encryption, access controls, and compliance standards like SOC2 and GDPR. Excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and production debugging expertise are critical. You thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate high ownership and accountability, and see yourself as a business partner focused on moving the company forward.
