We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Growth team, which owns business-critical services including customer onboarding and offboarding, billing and metering, cloud marketplace integrations, customer-facing usage and cost reporting, and account data integrations that keep revenue systems synchronized across the business. In this role, you will lead technical direction and build systems that directly impact Temporal's revenue engine and customer journey. You'll partner closely with engineers, product managers, finance, revenue operations, support, and sales to design resilient architectures, drive cross-functional execution, and raise the reliability and scalability bar for billing, metering, and customer lifecycle platforms. Key responsibilities include: - Own end-to-end technical design and delivery for services powering customer acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, and revenue operations - Define and evolve system architecture for high-throughput, fault-tolerant metering and billing pipelines, making principled tradeoffs across correctness, latency, cost, and operability - Partner with Finance, RevOps, and Sales to translate business needs into robust, scalable systems - Build account lifecycle flows from acquisition through activation, expansion, billing, and offboarding - Own integrations and pipelines that reconcile control-plane state with CRM, support, analytics, and BI systems - Design customer-facing APIs and metrics surfaces for understanding spend with strong accuracy and latency guarantees - Build distributed data systems with strong correctness guarantees, implementing monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks - Set quality standards through code reviews, design reviews, and operational readiness - Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership and pragmatic excellence - Identify opportunities to streamline customer flows via automation and platform improvements Technology stack includes Go (primary language), PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redshift, S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, Kinesis, Firehose, Kubernetes, Metronome, Stripe, Salesforce, Segment, and Temporal framework. You should bring significant experience designing and delivering production-grade backend systems in cloud environments with meaningful ownership over architecture and operational outcomes. Strong proficiency in at least one systems/backend language (Go preferred) is essential. Demonstrated experience building and operating distributed systems—including concurrency, reliability, scaling, consistency, and failure handling—is required. You'll need practical understanding of data pipelines and storage systems and experience integrating and reconciling data across multiple systems.
