Snowflake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Efficiency team, which is building scalable products for governance, monitoring, and optimization of cloud spend across the organization. With Snowflake's cloud spend in the billions annually, this role is critical to improving margins and competitive advantage. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable monitoring solutions that collate cloud costs with utilization, attribution, hardware performance, and architecture data. The team's vision is to transform cloud spend into a competitive advantage by empowering teams to continuously optimize per-unit costs. You'll work end-to-end on the problem: collecting data from multiple cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and internal systems, storing it efficiently, presenting actionable insights through streamlined UX, and leveraging AI/agents for cost analysis and anomaly detection. Key responsibilities include designing and building large-scale monitoring systems, creating tools for enhanced alerting and root cause analysis, optimizing data ingestion and query efficiency, collaborating across Snowflake to understand monitoring needs, contributing to open-source best practices, and participating in on-call rotations to ensure high availability and reliability. You bring 7+ years of experience designing and supporting large-scale production systems, with proven expertise in cost optimization and efficiency work on private or public clouds. You have deep system and architectural analysis skills, a track record of delivering impactful cross-functional projects, and proficiency in Go, Python, or Java. Strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication, and a BS/MS in Computer Science or related field are essential. Experience with observability infrastructure (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus) and LLMs is a plus.
