The company develops Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into real-time 3D command and control centers, bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking to military systems. As a Senior Software Engineer in C++, you will join a small, high-impact team developing state-of-the-art algorithms and software for mission-critical defense systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you remain deeply engaged in design, implementation, and code review while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers. Key responsibilities include: - Shape technical direction while staying hands-on in coding and architecture - Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical guidance - Write production-quality C++ and Python for mission-critical systems, setting standards for engineering excellence - Prototype and guide state-of-the-art solutions from concept through tactical deployment - Implement high-performance software across tactical systems and web applications - Use modeling, simulation, and analysis tools to quantify technology benefits - Lead technical interchange meetings and customer engagements - Own all aspects of the software development lifecycle, navigating ambiguity and complex trade-offs - Communicate technical concepts clearly to colleagues, customers, and non-technical stakeholders Required qualifications: 8+ years software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; demonstrated mentoring and technical leadership while remaining a hands-on contributor; experience with large, complex codebases; strong C/C++ and Python proficiency; direct experience in air and missile defense domains (multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, threat classification, kill chain, command-and-control systems like IBCS, Patriot, Aegis); big data/NoSQL/database technologies; software design, algorithm implementation, testing, and optimization; applied mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra, optimization, statistics); controls, estimation theory, and digital signal processing; eligibility for U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance. Preferred: experience leading small teams or technical workstreams as a top individual contributor; track record of growing engineers; asynchronous, parallel, and GPU programming; real-world tactical/edge deployment experience.
