You'll join as a Senior Backend Software Engineer in the Seattle office (hybrid, 3 days/week on-site). In this role, you'll design, build, and own high-performance microservices used by hundreds of thousands of real customers. You'll take ownership of complex technical projects from conception through production, mentor other engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions alongside cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining microservices using Java, Spring Framework, and gRPC; leading complex technical initiatives; mentoring engineers; collaborating across teams to ship features; writing high-quality, well-tested code; conducting thorough code reviews; and owning production issues through resolution.
You'll need 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 5+ years working with Java and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud). Strong experience with gRPC, protocol buffers, microservice architecture, and AWS is required. You must have built consumer products at scale and have hands-on experience integrating or building with AI technologies—this is core to how they work, not optional. Strong communication skills and comfort in collaborative, distributed teams are essential.
Nice-to-have skills include event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ), payment processing or financial systems background, GraphQL implementation, and CI/CD experience (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
