You will join as a Senior Software Engineer on the backend team building and scaling the Key Insight product—a unified data security platform that integrates with cloud platforms, on-premises databases, certificate lifecycle management tools, and enterprise systems to discover, analyze, and provide insights into cryptographic security.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems without predefined solutions. You will own backend features end-to-end: from product requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. A typical project involves investigating new cloud provider or enterprise technology integrations—understanding APIs and SDKs, experimenting with how they work, determining integration approaches, and recommending solutions to the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build backend services in Rust, including REST APIs, data models, database schemas, and service-to-service integrations
- Build integrations with cloud and enterprise platforms, researching unfamiliar APIs and technologies as needed
- Own technical design for new capabilities, considering architecture, scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Identify and solve performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges as the product grows
- Take features through production: implementation, testing, CI/CD, deployment, validation, and production readiness
- Debug complex production issues across application, integration, database, and infrastructure layers
- Partner with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and turn product needs into well-designed solutions
- Support customers and internal teams on complex technical issues
- Collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team on design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions
You should have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant backend development background. Strong candidates have production Rust experience (or strong C++ or Go experience with interest in Rust), expertise designing and building backend services and microservices, REST API design and implementation, database schema design, and experience integrating with third-party APIs, SDKs, and cloud services. You should be comfortable taking ambiguous technical requirements, researching unfamiliar technologies, and turning findings into engineering solutions.
