Salary: CAD 153,000 - 213,000 / annual

The Powered by Affirm (PBA) team builds the APIs and solutions that power all of Affirm's integrations with enterprise merchants and partners, managing checkout APIs, merchant onboarding tools, and custom end-to-end integrated solutions.
In this Senior Backend Engineer role, you will own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems while ensuring team support throughout delivery. You'll collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams during ideation, articulating technical constraints and partnering on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs. You'll proactively identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, and business issues.
You'll support operations and availability of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on-call efforts. You'll foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, advocating for them through writing and tech talks. You'll develop talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Required: 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin. Track record building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Experience defining technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs. Proficiency making significant changes in large codebases with safe practices. Strong ownership of your growth, seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication for global collaboration. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
