Salary: PLN 308,000 - 428,000 / annual
Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Card Acquisition team within the Consumer organization. The team is responsible for building the first experience customers have with Affirm's buy-now-pay-later platform, focusing on trust, clarity, and value from initial interaction.
In this role, you will define long-term technical strategy for backend systems, mentor senior engineers, and act as a force multiplier through technical depth and operational excellence. You'll work at the intersection of product, design, and engineering to build performant, accessible user experiences that directly impact conversion, retention, and business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and delivering quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems
- Supporting peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics
- Proactively identifying and solving project, process, technology, and business issues
- Ensuring team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing, and alerting
- Fostering a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards
- Developing talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example
- Participating in on-call rotation as required
You bring 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin. You have a proven track record developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. You excel at defining technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs, and you write high-quality code that others can easily understand and use. You're proficient at making significant changes in large codebases and have developed tools and practices that enable safe, efficient development. You take ownership of your growth, communicate effectively with global teams, and have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
