ResortPass is redefining hotel experiences by offering daytime access to pools, beaches, spas, cabanas, and other amenities without overnight stays. Operating across 2,700+ hotel partners in 30 countries with 7+ million guests served, the company has secured major partnerships with Marriott and Hilton.
This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on building the core booking platform and external API that powers ResortPass's expansion into new categories and distribution channels. The role is a hands-on individual contributor position with significant technical ownership and impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and launching the external ResortPass API with stable, versioned contracts for pricing, availability, holds, bookings, changes, and cancellations
- Designing safe booking operations under real-world failures, including idempotency, recovery, webhooks, and reconciliation patterns
- Evolving the core booking domain to support diverse product types (day passes, cabanas, massages, events, food & beverage) with unified rules for pricing, inventory, fulfillment, and cancellation
- Making the platform extensible so new categories can use shared booking models rather than requiring separate systems
- Owning architecture for supply, PMS, and POS integrations with reusable connector patterns
- Defining data contracts for inventory discovery through OpenSearch
- Operating the booking path with reliability targets, tests, metrics, dashboards, alerts, tracing, and runbooks
- Mentoring other backend engineers and raising the engineering bar through code review and practical guidance
The technical challenge is substantial: supporting multiple product categories with different business rules through a single, coherent booking domain while maintaining correctness under retries, partial failures, and system disagreements. The role partners with a Staff Engineer on foundational architecture and works cross-functionally with Product, Partnerships, and hotel operations.
Tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch. The company emphasizes building quality from the start, with changes tested, deployed, observable, and safely rollbackable. Engineers use AI tools aggressively but remain accountable for architecture and production outcomes.
