In this role, you will own quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguous, open-ended infrastructure challenges at scale. You'll collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions balancing risks and trade-offs. You'll proactively identify and solve project, process, technology, and business issues, advocating for solutions across the organization.
You'll support operations and availability of your team's systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call rotations. You'll foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards, advocating for them through writing and tech talks, and developing talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Required experience includes 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin. You should have a track record building highly available distributed systems on AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Experience with workflow orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi) and scaling frameworks like Spark/Flink on Kubernetes is essential. You excel at defining technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, extensible designs, writing high-quality code others easily understand and use. You're proficient making large-scale code changes safely and have developed tools and practices enabling your team to do so. You take ownership of your growth, seek feedback proactively, and communicate effectively with global engineering teams. A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience is required.
