As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will be a pivotal technical contributor shaping Truecaller's technology and driving improvements to user experience and business profitability.
You will spend significant time on hands-on coding, building scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices that power Truecaller's Ads platform. Focus areas include high-availability, low-latency systems using modern tech stacks. Key responsibilities include conducting code reviews to maintain quality standards and share best practices, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and optimizing systems for performance and reliability.
You'll collaborate closely with product managers, front-end developers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure features align with business needs and deliver seamless user experiences. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring systems scale to meet future needs. Mentorship of junior engineers is expected, along with participation in knowledge-sharing sessions.
Feature development, production deployment, and smooth platform integration are core deliverables. You'll participate in bi-weekly sprint planning, breaking down tasks, prioritizing work, and ensuring alignment with product roadmap.
Required: 5-9 years of backend development experience in startup or product-based environments. Strong knowledge of modern programming languages (Go, Java, C#, Scala), data structures, algorithms, and experience designing large-scale distributed systems. Consumer-facing company experience and familiarity with AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude) are valued.
Preferred: Microservices architecture experience, hands-on work with Go, Scala, Play, Redis, Aerospike, Kafka, and NoSQL stores. GCP or other public cloud experience is a plus.
