Salary: USD 143,800 - 231,900 / annual

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Engineering Operations Team, you will play a key role in fostering engineering excellence by creating, implementing, and maintaining scalable core processes to enhance development efficiency, reliability, and quality within the Camunda 8 codebase and across the engineering organization.
Your mission is to ensure the internal development lifecycle becomes autonomous and frictionless as Camunda 8 evolves into the leader of the agentic orchestration market. You will work with infrastructure and core software engineering teams to ensure smooth workflows, robust dependency management, and continuous improvement of CI processes in AI-first development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the shift toward an automated engineering lifecycle by implementing unified processes in Camunda 8 repos, including AI-assisted release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive CVE remediation
- Continuously optimizing CI/release health and development velocity using metrics-driven approaches to identify and eliminate bottlenecks
- Collaborating with stakeholders to implement CI strategy and engineering best practices across the organization
- Identifying friction points in engineering workflows and evolving them into automated, self-sustaining systems
Required qualifications:
- Strong software engineering experience with a track record of delivering results, preferably in Java
- Fullstack or backend specialization
- Passion for engineering operational excellence beyond coding, including CI/CD optimization, dependency management, release processes, metrics collection, and build efficiency
- Strong experience with CI build tools (GitHub Actions, Maven, Docker) and automations (Shell/Python) in complex projects like monorepos
- Strong collaboration skills across teams in platform-like environments
- Experience with developer experience tools and process optimization
- Ownership mindset with comfort in "you build it, you run it" philosophy
Nice-to-have skills include experience designing cross-team operations and practical experience with Camunda or other BPMN systems.
