Salary: CAD 192,000 - 240,000 / annual

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Backend team, you will help develop new products from concept to launch, building systems that scale with speed and intention. You'll work on customer-facing products that drive direct business impact and shape Brex's long-term technical vision. The role involves collaborating with engineers across the company to build features end-to-end, working alongside Sales and Support teams to understand customer needs, and designing solutions to improve banking experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with engineers across the company to build new features and products end-to-end
- Working alongside user-facing teams like Sales and Support to deeply understand customer needs
- Designing and implementing solutions to improve customer banking experiences
- Owning problems end-to-end, from user experience and data models to scalability, operability, and metrics
- Tuning and polishing features to a high degree of excellence
The role is based in the Vancouver office with a hybrid work model requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday). Up to four weeks per year of fully remote work is available.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying full-stack applications
- Experience building and designing scalable backend systems
- Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases
- Experience working with backend programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python)
- Familiarity with software engineering development cycles
- Ability to hold yourself and the team to high standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
