Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The AI Products Org develops software for the general aviation industry, separate from the core aircraft program.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design and maintain systems bridging physical hardware and cloud services. This role spans both embedded systems and scalable cloud infrastructure, requiring breadth across systems and the ability to dive deep into complex problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain software systems spanning edge devices and cloud infrastructure
- Develop and support software running on Raspberry Pi and similar embedded environments
- Build scalable backend services using Python on AWS
- Ensure reliable data flow and system integration between hardware and cloud services
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues across hardware/software boundaries
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following engineering best practices
- Adapt to changing priorities by contributing across software development, infrastructure, and hardware testing
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience building or managing applications on AWS
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex, cross-disciplinary systems
