Zocdoc is a healthcare marketplace that empowers patients by making it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care across all 50 US states, 200+ specialties, and 12,000+ insurance plans. The company is 18 years old and the market leader, but still in early growth phases. You'll join the Provider Infrastructure and Provider Roster Management teams, which build core systems that store and serve provider, location, and roster data as the reliable source of truth. These teams power onboarding and ongoing management experiences for practices of all sizes—from solo providers to large health systems—and ensure provider changes propagate quickly and safely to downstream systems like Search, Availability, Analytics, and Integrations. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll balance meaningful individual contribution with mentorship. You'll work across the full stack—front to back—with emphasis on robust, observable services and high-scale data flows. You'll take ideas from inception to reality by rapidly iterating, validating with real usage, and hardening systems for long-term scale. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and evolving services and tools that power scaling initiatives; writing clean, well-tested code in C#, React, and AWS-based services; collaborating closely with engineers, PMs, designers, and Ops to shape solutions; contributing to service migrations toward modern, event-driven architectures; using metrics, dashboards, and load tests to keep services healthy and observable; and sharing knowledge to help the team move faster. You should have 6+ years of professional software development experience with significant backend or full-stack work on distributed systems. You should have shipped features or services for high-scale systems where correctness, resilience, and performance matter. You're comfortable working across the stack and learning unfamiliar parts of a system. You thrive in agile, cross-functional environments and are excited by scaling challenges, cloud-native infrastructure, and event-driven patterns. You're product-driven, motivated by healthcare impact, and curious about how AI and GenAI can responsibly improve developer productivity and provider experiences.
