Salary: USD 115,000 - 180,000 / annual
Vetcove is modernizing the $50B+ animal health industry with a suite of platforms including a market-leading procurement marketplace, ecommerce platform, and practice management system. More than 25,000 veterinary hospitals across all 50 states use Vetcove daily. Backed by Y Combinator and top venture investors, the company is rapidly expanding its engineering team.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be a key contributor responsible for projects from conception to completion, including planning, creation, maintenance, and upgrades across the technology stack. You'll work on core platform features ensuring intuitive and innovative products for veterinary organizations.
Recent projects include a real-time analytics platform displaying billions in purchase history, a dynamic advertising platform distributing millions in cashback rewards, a mobile shopping experience using phone cameras, and foundational work on modern architecture supporting seamless feature interactivity.
Key responsibilities include conceptualizing and documenting new features, building interactive React applications for tens of thousands of users, implementing React Native features, adding test coverage, creating reusable components, and collaborating with the CTO, engineering team, and cross-functional partners.
Required qualifications: 2+ years professional software engineering experience (preferably web applications), Bachelor's degree (ideally Computer Science), high proficiency in at least one industry-common language, experience building production applications in modern web frameworks, ability to design features around data models with accuracy and security, database experience with query optimization, JavaScript fluency, strong testing habits, excellent communication, and adaptability.
Tech stack: Backend (Python, Django, Django Rest Framework), Frontend (JavaScript, React, Redux, TypeScript, Webpack), Datastores (Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis), Mobile (React Native), Version Control (Git). Startup experience is a plus.
