UiPath's Platform Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build internal infrastructure and tooling that powers engineering velocity across the organization. You'll develop software that makes UiPath's hybrid cloud compute fleet self-managing and easy to consume, enabling internal teams to provision and manage virtual machines on bare metal as seamlessly as a managed cloud service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building services that provision, configure, and lifecycle-manage virtual machines on bare metal using virtualization technologies (QEMU/KVM, libvirt, VMware, Hyper-V, or Xen).
- Creating tooling that exposes datacenter capacity as an elastic fabric for internal workloads to schedule against on demand.
- Automating the full host lifecycle as code, including bring-up, hypervisor configuration, networking, storage, and decommissioning.
- Providing the compute backbone for pipeline runs and end-to-end automated testing at scale.
- Improving reliability, observability, performance, and security of the virtualization layer.
- Contributing to centralized initiatives like Automated Sign-Off and performance testing frameworks.
- Building and maintaining tooling that standardizes software development practices across engineering teams.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience using mainstream languages (.NET/C# preferred; Java, Go, C, C++, Python, or Rust acceptable).
- Strong Linux operating system and scripting experience.
- Deep understanding of OOP, design patterns, concurrency, and data structures/algorithms.
- Hands-on cloud platform experience (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).
- Practical virtualization experience with industry-standard hypervisors.
- Proficiency across the full software development lifecycle with emphasis on well-tested, high-quality code.
Nice-to-have skills include bare-metal fleet management, CI/CD and test infrastructure at scale, libvirt/cloud-init/PXE expertise, infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible), Kubernetes, and distributed storage systems.
