SoFi is a next-generation financial services company and national bank using mobile-first technology to help millions of members reach their financial goals. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our San Francisco office.
In this role, you will lead the development and testing of system components and services, conduct code and design reviews, and help shape the technical architecture of our products. You'll translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutions, deliver highly available and scalable services in production environments, and mentor other engineers while supporting our technical culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading development of distributed, scalable services
- Participating in architectural decisions and technical strategy
- Mentoring junior engineers and fostering technical excellence
- Driving digital transformation initiatives through large-scale service migrations and tech stack modernization
- Implementing operational excellence practices with monitoring and observability
- Collaborating with product, project, and engineering teams
You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in modern technology stacks. Required skills include:
- 4+ years with React, GraphQL, Spring Boot, Airflow, Zookeeper, Terraform, Kafka, and Flink
- 4+ years with Java, Kotlin, Python, and JavaScript; strong database design (SQL/NoSQL)
- Microservices architecture using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Fargate
- AI/ML fundamentals including LLM usage with AWS Bedrock and Spring AI
- CI/CD pipelines, Git, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Distributed systems testing at scale (JUnit)
- Monitoring tools (DataDog, AWS CloudWatch)
- Feature gating and experimentation platforms (Optimizely)
Part-time telecommuting is available; hybrid work from our San Francisco office is expected.
