Salary: USD 185,000 - 235,000 / annual
Senpilot builds AI agents that help utilities operate smarter, faster, and more reliably. The company automates everything from engineering workflows to regulatory filings and compliance, creating the intelligence layer for the modern grid. AI systems at Senpilot understand utility data, reason across it, and act autonomously to improve safety, resilience, and efficiency for critical infrastructure.
In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will build and own AI-powered product features end to end, from schema and API design through to shipping in production and iterating on real usage. You'll leverage AI coding tools like Claude and Cursor to move fast across the stack. This is an AI-native engineering role where AI is expected to be a core part of how you work—a genuine multiplier for design, build, and ship velocity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and ship fullstack features independently, from technical design through deployment and monitoring
- Raise the bar on code quality by shipping reliable, exceptionally clean code across the entire stack (APIs, databases, frontend components)
- Design pragmatic data models and database schemas that scale as the product grows
- Use AI coding tools as a core part of your workflow to ship more, faster without dropping quality
- Turn complex product challenges into concrete, shippable technical plans
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and customers to create and improve products
The current tech stack includes TypeScript, Python, Node.js, GCP, Kubernetes, React, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, and Temporal. You'll work in a small, high-performance team combining deep expertise in AI systems, data engineering, and energy infrastructure.
The team gathers at the Brooklyn, NY office once a week. Hybrid flexibility is appreciated, but in-person attendance on those days is preferred.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience building and shipping production software with a track record of owning features end to end
- Hands-on experience as an AI-native engineer with ability to deliver high-quality, production-ready output
- Experience with relational databases and solid schema design instincts; ability to model domains sensibly and reason about tradeoffs
- Understanding of modern cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Kubernetes (a plus)
- Fluency in at least one modern language: TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar
- True fullstack ownership: comfortable across backend, data, and frontend
- Clear communication and collaborative, low-ego approach to code review and design
