As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them autonomously. You'll define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to customer-facing UI. You'll design and ship full-stack features end to end, working across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile to deliver solutions.
The role emphasizes building, not maintaining. Samsara is in full growth mode, building new systems from scratch rather than babysitting legacy code. You'll own entire problem spaces end to end with autonomy to set direction from day one. The software you build has real-world stakes: helping keep lights on, getting food into grocery stores, keeping workers safe.
You'll participate in customer interviews, collaborate with product managers and customer success, and use that context to build products solving real problems operators face daily. The company values engineers who take pride in their work, get things done, and define what to build rather than waiting to be told. Leveling is flexible; the company is hiring from Senior through Staff+ across platform and product, open to shaping scope around the right person's strengths and interests.
