Reserv is a venture-backed insurtech company (founded May 2022, backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures) building AI and automation technology to transform claims processing. The company is focused on automating manual tasks in insurance claims to improve efficiency for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a core contributor to Reserv's platform, responsible for designing, building, and deploying production-ready software. You'll work full-stack with a strong emphasis on backend development, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, scalable applications that directly impact the claims industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing robust backend systems using Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Building reliable, maintainable APIs with strong attention to data modeling, performance optimization, and security
- Contributing to front-end work when needed (React, TypeScript)
- Collaborating with product, design, and other engineering teams to bring user stories to life
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in the platform
- Mentoring and supporting team members as needed
You bring 5+ years of hands-on production software development experience, with deep expertise in backend systems. You have a proven track record of shipping high-quality, reliable software—demonstrated through side projects, open-source contributions, or technical publications. You're versatile and willing to step into frontend or infrastructure work (CI/CD, security) when the team needs it, while maintaining a user-centric mindset.
Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state (excluding California, Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories) throughout employment.
