Pulley is an AI-powered platform that accelerates commercial construction and real estate projects by automating permitting intelligence and guidance across 19,000+ jurisdictions. The company works with major brands like J.Crew, Solidcore, and Hibbett Sports, as well as data center and EV charging network operators, to eliminate costly delays and bring predictability to project lifecycles. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own features and systems end-to-end—from user research and requirements definition through architecture, implementation, and production iteration. Your core responsibilities include: - Building product experiences that transform unstructured permitting documents, city regulations, and jurisdiction workflows into fast, reliable systems with AI at the core - Working daily with AI agents, directing and reviewing agent-driven implementation work at high velocity while maintaining quality standards - Making technical and product decisions with direct impact on customer outcomes - Mentoring engineers through design review and setting high standards in your own work - Collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and end-users to accelerate product development You thrive in ambiguity and prefer defining the right problem over executing a spec. You're product-minded—you care whether your work actually solves customer problems and will talk to users to validate. You hold strong opinions about balancing quality and velocity, seeking tools and processes that achieve both. You default to ownership: when something is broken or missing, you fix it rather than escalate. Required: 4+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of owning significant product surface end-to-end. You're fluent in modern full-stack development (TypeScript, React, Google Cloud or equivalent). Critically, you have real production experience building with AI coding agents and LLM-powered features—not just autocomplete, but shipping substantial agent-directed work. You can architect durable systems while making pragmatic tradeoffs. You're based in the San Francisco Bay Area and willing to work in-person 4 days per week. Nice-to-haves include experience in construction tech, govtech, or proptech; designing evals for LLM-powered features; startup experience at the team-building stage; or prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical direction.
