project44 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Visibility Platform team in Amsterdam. You will help shape the shared engineering foundation powering project44's visibility products across all modalities—Ground (FTL, LTL, Parcel, Rail), Ocean, Air, and Orders—transforming billions of carrier signals into real-time tracking, milestones, and notifications for the world's largest shippers and logistics providers.
Key responsibilities include building and evolving core platforms for event ingestion, milestone computation, webhook and notification delivery, scheduled work, and shared APIs used across all modal teams. You will design event-driven systems that process high-throughput carrier data reliably with low latency, and own reliability, performance, and scalability of the platforms your team operates.
You will work in a multi-cloud environment using AWS and GCP, with openness to other cloud platforms like Azure. You'll partner with modal engineering teams across Ground, Ocean, Air, and Orders to expose platform capabilities they can build on. You will share ownership of all software delivery facets—development, operations, and testing—and assume on-call responsibilities for systems built and owned by your team. You will invest in tools, monitoring, and automation to improve the on-call experience for everyone.
The role requires 5+ years of professional experience building large-scale, real-time or near-real-time systems. You should have strong expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud infrastructure. Experience with high-throughput data processing, API design, and operational excellence is essential. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ownership, reliability-focused, and collaborative across teams.
