Pearl is an AI-driven healthtech company specializing in dental technology. Since 2019, they've developed FDA-cleared computer vision solutions for interpreting 2D and 3D dental imagery, used by clinicians, practice owners, labs, and insurers globally.
This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on building and improving complex systems where AI is central to the product experience. You'll contribute across three critical areas:
1. Real-Time Clinical AI Workflows: Build systems that capture clinical audio, stream transcription, and generate structured documentation using LLMs.
2. Agentic Systems: Contribute to event-driven systems leveraging LLM tool-calling to automate actions across internal and external tools, with appropriate safety guardrails.
3. Dental Data Intelligence: Develop pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich data from practice management systems.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining real-time transcription and LLM-powered summarization pipelines, developing across the full stack (Node.js/TypeScript APIs, React frontends, PostgreSQL, AWS), supporting event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS), writing reliable and testable code with focus on maintainability and observability, collaborating on prompt engineering and AI output evaluation, and monitoring system performance.
Required qualifications: 5+ years professional software engineering experience, strong ownership mindset with ability to deliver independently, backend services experience with Node.js/TypeScript, React and modern frontend development, AWS familiarity (Lambda, SQS, S3), PostgreSQL and data modeling fundamentals, exposure to event-driven systems, familiarity with LLM-based systems, production system experience, and comfort with AI-assisted development tools.
Nice-to-have skills include healthcare/dental technology experience, agent frameworks or LLM orchestration patterns, ETL pipelines, multi-tenant SaaS experience, and Infrastructure as Code (Serverless Framework).
The company offers competitive compensation, ongoing training and development, flexible uncapped PTO, and a fully remote work environment.
